When uneven tooth proportions make gum contouring hard to judge
Discussion options
A gumline can look uneven because of how much gum covers the teeth, but tooth position or tooth shape may contribute too. How does a dentist separate those factors during a consultation before recommending contouring?
For example, if one front tooth looks shorter than its neighbor, I’d want to know whether the difference is mainly gum coverage, whether the teeth sit at different heights, or whether their shapes differ. Would orthodontic or restorative options be considered first, or might contouring still make sense as part of a combined plan?
