What’s your go-to after jaw surgery: wax, salt water, or just toughing it out?

For me, salt water rinses were a lifesaver once the initial sting passed.

Same here—salt water was my go-to, mostly because it’s cheap and you can make it at home. Wax was helpful but I kept running out, and honestly, buying more felt like one more expense. The “tough it out” method just made me cranky and didn’t really save me anything in the long run. It’s wild how something as basic as salt water can make such a difference.

I totally get what you mean about the cost of wax adding up. Did you ever feel nervous about whether salt water was “enough” for healing, though? I kept second-guessing if I should be doing more, but my surgeon swore by the rinses. I tried to tough it out once and just ended up feeling miserable and stressed. It’s kind of reassuring to hear other people found the simple stuff worked best—makes me feel less anxious about skipping all the extras.
