[Closed] my dentist warned me vaping could mess up my smile, but I didn't think much of it until yesterday.

"certain flavorings, especially citrus or minty ones, can actually cause inflammation or irritation too."

Yeah, I noticed something similar. Switched to a minty flavor a while back (no nicotine either), and my gums started feeling weirdly sensitive. Thought it was just me being paranoid... maybe not?

I've had something pretty similar happen, actually. A while back, I switched to a citrus-flavored vape because I figured it'd be refreshing and all that. After about a week or two, I noticed my gums feeling kinda raw and irritated—almost like when you brush way too hard or something. At first, I thought maybe I was just imagining things or that I was brushing weirdly without realizing it. But nope, turns out the flavoring was the culprit.

When I mentioned it to my orthodontist during a routine check-up, she said certain flavorings—especially citrusy or minty ones—can really irritate sensitive gums and even cause inflammation. Apparently, they're acidic enough or have certain ingredients that can mess with your mouth's natural balance. I switched back to something more neutral after that, and within a week or so, things felt way better.

Honestly, I never really took the warnings seriously before—just figured dentists were being overly cautious. But after experiencing it firsthand, I'm a lot more careful about what flavors I'm choosing now. It's probably not paranoia on your part; your gums are pretty good at telling you when something's off...

Yeah, I've seen this happen quite a bit actually. Citrus and mint flavors can be sneaky irritants for gums. Glad you caught it early—switching flavors usually helps a ton. Your gums definitely know when something's up...

Yeah, totally agree with this. My gums got super sensitive with mint flavors too—thought it was just me being weird at first, haha. Switched to something milder and things calmed down pretty quick. Glad you're figuring it out early!

Same here, mint toothpaste always made my gums feel kinda raw and irritated... honestly thought it was just anxiety making me paranoid again, lol. Glad I'm not alone—switching to sensitive toothpaste helped a lot. Might be worth a try if you're still having issues?
