[Sticky] my dentist warned me vaping could mess up my smile, but I didn't think much of it until yesterday.

I had a similar experience actually. Vaped casually for about a year and didn't think much of it until I noticed my gums feeling sore and sensitive more often. My dentist pointed out some mild inflammation and mentioned vaping could be contributing to it. Didn't really believe him at first, but after cutting back significantly, the irritation improved noticeably. I also tried the hydrating rinseβ€”agree it's not magic, but it definitely helped ease that dry, uncomfortable feeling. Honestly, quitting completely made the biggest difference for me, but everyone's different... might be worth experimenting with cutting back or taking breaks to see if your gums feel better.

That's a really good point. I've seen quite a few patients who noticed improvements after cutting back or quitting vaping altogether. It can be tough to make that connection at first, especially if vaping feels harmless compared to smoking. Glad you found something that worked for you... gums can be pretty sensitive to irritation, so even small changes can make a noticeable difference. Good on you for listening to your body and making adjustments.

Yeah, totally agree with this. I remember when I first cut back on vaping, I didn't notice much at first, but after a couple weeks my gums felt way less irritated and sensitive. It's weird how subtle the effects can be until you actually stop. Did anyone else notice other unexpected benefits after quitting or cutting down? Curious if it's just gums or if there's more to it...

I noticed something similar when I quit vaping too. At first, I was mostly focused on my gums and teeth because my dentist had mentioned it, but after a month or so, I realized my sense of taste had improved a ton. Foods I used to think were bland suddenly tasted richer and more flavorful. It was subtle at first, but one day I was eating something I'd had a million times before and thought, "Wait, has this always tasted this good?" Funny how you don't realize what you're missing until you stop...

Haha, exactly! I tell patients this all the timeβ€”it's like when you finally clean your glasses after weeks of smudges and suddenly realize trees actually have individual leaves. Had a guy come in once who quit vaping, and he swore his toothpaste had changed formulas because it tasted "suspiciously minty" all of a sudden. Nope, same old toothpaste, just his taste buds finally coming back online... Glad you're noticing the difference too.
