Did you ever try oil pulling or any of those other old-school breath hacks? I always wondered if they’re worth the hassle or just another money pit.

I remember trying oil pulling a few years ago—coconut oil, every morning for about two weeks. Honestly, it left my mouth feeling cleaner, but I didn’t notice a massive difference with my breath. Tongue scraping, on the other hand, was a game changer. I’ve been dealing with dry mouth for ages, especially after quitting smoking, and scraping really helps. Oil pulling felt a bit messy and time-consuming, but maybe that’s just me. I think some of those “old-school” tricks work for certain folks, but nothing beats the basics: brushing, flossing, and a good tongue scraper.

Same here. I started scraping when I got braces, since stuff gets stuck everywhere. It made a bigger difference for my breath than any rinse or oil pulling ever did. Oil pulling just felt like a chore, honestly.

I totally get what you mean about oil pulling feeling like a chore. I tried it for a couple weeks—swishing coconut oil around for what felt like forever—and honestly, I didn’t notice much difference. Tongue scraping, though, was weirdly satisfying? I started doing it after a late-night pizza binge left my mouth tasting like a dumpster. Ever since, it’s been part of my routine. Even after a night out smoking and drinking, it seems to cut through that gross morning taste way better than mouthwash ever did.
