A lower periodontal-maintenance fee may not cover the same visit
What do you ask when comparing fees for periodontal maintenance? A lower quote is hard to judge if one visit includes gum measurements and cleaning, while another has a different scope or duration.
I’d also want to know whether the recommended visit frequency is based on the patient’s periodontal history, and whether rinses or interdental brushes are part of the quoted fee or billed separately. How do you compare estimates without assuming the cheaper one represents the same care?

The planned cleaning area can make the quotes hard to compare: one may cover only the areas needing maintenance, while another includes more extensive cleaning. Ask what findings would change the planned scope. That helps show whether the price difference reflects patient-specific care or a different service.
The recommended interval matters too: a lower fee per visit could add up to a higher annual cost if visits are recommended more often. Compare the estimated yearly totals as well as the per-visit fees.
