I hear you on the fluoride rinse routine. My dentist’s been singing its praises for years, but honestly, it just feels like another thing to remember before bed—right up there with not eating cookies at midnight (which, let’s be real, is a losing battle). I’ve got a mouthful of fillings from my younger days, so maybe that’s why they keep pushing it on me. But if your checkups are clean and you’re not getting new cavities, I wouldn’t stress too much about skipping it.

Funny thing is, I switched to just brushing and flossing religiously—nothing fancy—and my gums have never looked better. Maybe the rinse helps some folks, but for me, sticking to the basics actually worked out. Never thought I’d be the “floss every night” type, but hey... stranger things have happened.

I get where you’re coming from with the fluoride rinse—it does feel like just one more chore at the end of the day. Honestly, I went years just brushing and flossing, and my dentist never really complained. I think for folks with a history of cavities or a mouth full of fillings, dentists tend to be extra cautious. But if your checkups are solid, sometimes keeping it simple really does work. I’ve found that consistency matters way more than fancy extras anyway. Funny how just sticking to the basics can make such a difference, huh?

- Totally agree—sticking with brushing and flossing has worked for me too.
- Tried adding mouthwash once, but honestly just got lazy after a week.
- Dentist hasn’t complained yet, so maybe simple’s enough for now?
- Guess if I start getting cavities, I’ll rethink it...

Interesting point—some folks really do fine with just brushing and flossing. Mouthwash can help, but it’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. Out of curiosity, do you use a manual or electric toothbrush? I’ve seen people switch and notice a big difference.

I actually switched to an electric one after my hygienist kind of hinted my gums could use the help. Not sure if it’s placebo, but I feel like my teeth are smoother now. Anyone else get nervous about brushing too hard with electrics?
