Got braces tightened yesterday and man, my mouth feels like it's been punched by a kangaroo or something. Friend told me to try this numbing gel stuff from the pharmacy, figured why not, right? Well, it sorta helps but tastes super weird and wears off fast. Dunno if I'm using it wrong or what. Anyone else had luck with these gels or found something better? I'm desperate here, chewing is a nightmare atm.
Yeah, those gels are kinda hit or miss tbh. When I had braces, I got better relief from rinsing with warm salt water and sticking to softer foods for a few days... plus it's way cheaper than pharmacy stuff. Worth a try maybe?
Yeah, salt water rinses were a lifesaver when my daughter first got braces. She tried those gels too, but honestly, they didn't seem to do much for her either. We ended up making smoothies and soups for a few days whenever she had adjustments—she complained less and it was easier on the wallet. Hang in there though, it does get better after the first couple of adjustments... promise!
Salt water rinses were definitely my go-to as well. I tried those gels a couple times, but honestly, I felt like they wore off way too fast and weren't worth the money. What really helped me was freezing smoothies or yogurt into popsicles—cheap, soothing, and tasty enough to distract me from the soreness for a bit. Hang in there, it really does ease up after a few adjustments...
