I'm finally biting the bullet and getting braces soon (yay me, lol). My ortho gave me the choice between traditional metal braces and Invisalign. I've heard mixed things about both, especially when it comes to pain and discomfort. My cousin had metal braces and she said the first week was brutal—could barely eat mashed potatoes without wincing. But then my friend who went with Invisalign said the trays were super uncomfortable at first too, like tight pressure and soreness every time she switched to a new set.

I know pain tolerance is different for everyone, but I'm curious if anyone here has experience with both or knows someone who does? Is one noticeably easier to deal with than the other? I mean, I get it, no pain no gain...but I'd rather not suffer more than necessary, you know?

I totally get where you're coming from—I was super anxious about this too. I went with Invisalign, and honestly, the first few days of a new tray were pretty uncomfortable, kind of like a tight squeeze on your teeth. But it usually eased up after a day or two. My sister had metal braces though, and she definitely had it rougher at first—lots of soup dinners, lol. Either way, it's temporary, and you'll adapt quicker than you think. You've got this!
