I totally get what you mean about that “off” feeling. After my root canal, I kept poking at my new crown with my tongue, half-expecting it to just pop off or something. Here’s what I noticed:

1) For the first few days, everything felt weird—like my bite was just a bit off, even though the dentist checked it twice.
2) I stuck to softer foods too, and honestly, I think that helped me get used to it without stressing.
3) Around week two, my brain seemed to stop obsessing over every crunch and click.

It’s wild how our mouths just adapt, but yeah, it’s super normal to be hyper-aware at first. If it still feels really off after a couple weeks, I’d probably double-check with your dentist, but for me, it just faded into the background.

That’s actually reassuring to hear. I keep worrying my crown is going to just fall out when I eat, even though the dentist said it’s solid. Did you ever get random aches or like a tingly feeling around the tooth? I keep second-guessing every weird sensation, but maybe that’s just part of getting used to it. Your point about softer foods makes sense—were you nervous trying anything crunchy again?

I totally get what you mean about the weird sensations. I had this tingling and even a dull ache for a while after my crown went on, and it freaked me out every time. My dentist swore it was all normal healing, but honestly, I still chewed super carefully for weeks. First time I ate something crunchy, I was convinced the crown would pop off... but it didn’t. Still, I’m not sure I’ll ever bite into a whole apple with that side again.

Funny you mention apples—I still hesitate with them, and it’s been years since my crown. I used to baby that side too, but honestly, the crown’s held up better than my natural teeth ever did. Give it some time… you might surprise yourself.

I get what you’re saying about the crown holding up, but do you ever worry about biting into something hard and cracking it? I had a molar crowned after a root canal, and my dentist warned me to be careful with stuff like apples or nuts. Maybe I’m just overthinking it, but I still cut apples up instead of biting in. Is it really that sturdy, or am I being too cautious?
