Has anyone found a way to get rid of that weird film that builds up if you forget to clean them for a day or two? That’s my main struggle...

Definitely relate to the anxiety over that film—it freaks me out every time. I tried vinegar too and yeah, the taste just wouldn’t go away. What’s worked best for me is using a soft toothbrush (no toothpaste) and gently scrubbing with warm water. Sometimes I’ll use those cleaning crystals they give you, but honestly, manual scrubbing has been way more effective for the cloudy stuff. It’s not perfect, but at least it feels cleaner and less gross in my mouth.

That film drives me nuts too. I’m always worried someone will notice the cloudiness, especially since I’m trying to save money by not buying all the fancy cleaning stuff. Warm water and a toothbrush like you said has been my go-to, but sometimes I’ll drop them in a cup with a bit of baking soda—super cheap and seems to help if I forgot to clean for a day. It’s definitely not perfect, but it feels better than nothing. You’re not alone in this—keeping these things clear is way harder than I thought.

- Tried baking soda but honestly, it left a weird taste for me.
- I switched to just using dish soap and a soft brush—seems to work better for the cloudy look.
- Warm water is fine, but I notice if I don’t clean them right after eating, nothing really gets rid of that film.
- Anyone else feel like the baking soda scratches them a bit? Or maybe I’m just paranoid...
- It’s wild how much effort goes into keeping these things invisible.

Baking soda does leave a weird aftertaste, and yeah, it can be a little abrasive—especially if you scrub too hard. I’ve seen people accidentally scratch their aligners that way. Dish soap (unscented) with a soft brush is honestly what I recommend most. The film can be stubborn if you let it sit... not gonna lie, I’m guilty of procrastinating and then regretting it. It’s wild how much maintenance these clear things need compared to old-school braces.

I totally get what you mean about the film—if I skip even one night, it feels like it takes forever to get that stuff off. I tried the baking soda trick once and yeah, the taste lingered all day. I’m always paranoid about scratching mine too. Honestly, the amount of cleaning is way more than I expected... kinda makes me miss my old metal braces sometimes, as weird as that sounds.
