"losing them wrapped in napkins happens more often than you'd think..."
Haha, guilty as charged—I lost mine at a restaurant once, total facepalm moment. Curious though, anyone notice their teeth shifting back quickly if they skip aligners for just a day or two?
I've definitely been there—lost mine wrapped in a napkin at a friend's BBQ once, and spent an embarrassing half-hour digging through trash bags before giving up. Lesson learned the hard way, haha.
About teeth shifting back quickly, I've noticed it too, but I think it varies from person to person. For me, skipping aligners for even just a day or two usually isn't too noticeable visually, but I can definitely feel the difference when I pop them back in. There's always that tightness or slight discomfort again, which tells me things have shifted at least a tiny bit. My orthodontist explained that teeth naturally want to move back toward their original positions (something about muscle memory or periodontal fibers?), so even a short break can cause minor shifts.
One thing I've found helpful is keeping my previous set of aligners handy as backups. If I lose or misplace my current ones temporarily, I'll wear the previous set until I find them or get replacements. It's not ideal, but it helps keep things stable enough to avoid major setbacks.
Also, I've noticed hydration plays a role—strange as it sounds. If I'm dehydrated or haven't been drinking enough water, my aligners feel tighter and more uncomfortable after short breaks. Maybe it's just me overthinking it, but staying hydrated seems to make the whole process smoother.
Either way, don't stress too much if you miss a day here or there—life happens. Just try not to make it a habit because consistency really is key with aligners. Hang in there; it'll all be worth it when you're finally done!

This is exactly what I do too, and it's saved me more than once. Have you noticed if the tightness after missing a day or two gets better quicker if you wear the previous set first before jumping back to the current ones? I've tried both ways, and it seems like easing back in with the older aligners makes things less uncomfortable overall...but maybe I'm just imagining things.
I've noticed the same thing actually. When I've skipped a day or two, jumping straight back into the current set feels way too tight. Wearing the previous aligners for a few hours first definitely eases that discomfort—you're not imagining it!

Haha, glad it's not just us! My kiddo skipped aligners once during a weekend sleepover—total chaos Monday morning. We did the same trick, popped in the old set for half a day and things smoothed out. Lesson learned: aligners and sleepovers don't mix...unless you enjoy early morning meltdowns and frantic searches under beds.
