Not just you at all—I was honestly obsessed with keeping my aligners spotless. I’d take them out and rinse them like ten times a day, and I still felt like they’d get that weird cloudy look sometimes. The whole “clear” thing is great until you start noticing every tiny scratch or stain. I even bought those special cleaning crystals, but half the time I wondered if they actually did anything or if it was just me being extra paranoid.

And yeah, I totally agree about dental schools feeling less stressful. It’s weird, but having more people checking everything made me trust the process more, even if it took longer. But back to aligners—I feel like nobody warns you about how much maintenance they are. It’s not just pop them in and forget it. You have to be on top of cleaning, or you’ll end up with gross stains or even worse, that plasticky smell that never goes away. Maybe I’m overthinking too, but I swear it’s not as low-maintenance as they make it out to be...

This is so real. They sell you on “invisible” but don’t mention you’ll become a full-time aligner janitor. I was constantly checking for cloudiness or that weird plasticky smell—felt like a CSI episode every night. But honestly, being a little obsessed just means you care about your teeth, and that’s never a bad thing. You’re definitely not alone in the struggle.

Yeah, I totally relate. When I first got my aligners, I thought it’d just be like wearing a retainer or something—pop them in, done. Instead, I swear I spend half my day worrying if they’re clean enough or if I’m accidentally staining them with coffee. And then there’s remembering to brush after every snack... it’s honestly kind of stressful. Sometimes I wonder if I’m overthinking it, but then I remember the horror stories about bad breath and stains and freak out all over again. At least it helps knowing other people are dealing with the same stuff.

- Totally get what you mean about aligners being more work than expected.
-

“I swear I spend half my day worrying if they’re clean enough or if I’m accidentally staining them with coffee.”
Same here—coffee is my weakness and it’s so hard to cut back.
- I keep reminding myself it’s temporary and the results will be worth it.
- Honestly, I think a little overthinking is normal. Better safe than sorry, right?
- You’re not alone in this. It’s a hassle but we’ll get through it.

Coffee stains are the bane of my existence too, trust me... My kid started aligners last fall, and I swear we’ve both become obsessed with checking if they’re clean enough. The first week, I actually caught myself rinsing them every hour like it was some new hobby. It’s kind of wild how much it changes your routine. But you’re right—it’s temporary, and my kid’s already noticing a difference. Still, sometimes I wonder if we’re overdoing it with the cleaning (but then again, better safe than sorry).
