freaking out a bit about oral biopsy—sedation or just local numbing?

"Local numbing usually does the trick, especially if it's a straightforward biopsy."

I agree with this. When my daughter had her oral biopsy last year, we opted for local numbing because the dentist assured us it was quick and straightforward. She was pretty nervous beforehand, understandably, but once the numbing kicked in, she said she didn't feel much at all—just some pressure. That said, anxiety can definitely complicate things. If you're someone who tends to get really stressed or panicky during medical procedures, sedation might be worth considering. I've heard from other parents that sedation helped their kids stay calm and made the whole experience less stressful overall. It really comes down to knowing yourself (or your child) and how you typically handle these situations. Maybe talk it over with your dentist or oral surgeon again to weigh the pros and cons?

Yeah, totally agree with this part. I had a biopsy done a couple years back with just local numbing, and physically it was fine—didn't hurt, just felt weird pressure. But mentally...I was a mess. Kept overthinking every little sensation. If you're prone to anxiety, sedation might honestly be worth it just to spare yourself the stress. Maybe chat again with your dentist about your anxiety level and see what they suggest?
