I've been thinking lately about oral cancer screenings and realized I've had them done both at my dentist's office during regular cleanings and also once at my doctor's during a physical. Honestly, the dentist seemed way more thorough, checking under my tongue, cheeks, gums, everything. The doctor was quicker but maybe more convenient since I was already there for other stuff. Curious which one you guys prefer or trust more and why?
I've noticed the same thingβmy dentist definitely takes more time and seems to check more thoroughly. But then again, maybe that's because dentists specialize in oral health specifically? Doctors have so many other things to cover during a physical, maybe they just do a quick check unless there's a specific concern. Makes me wonder though...would it be better to rely mostly on dentists for this, or should we still expect doctors to be equally thorough?

Yeah, that's been my experience too. My kid's pediatrician always takes a quick peek, but our dentist is the one who really gets in there and checks things out thoroughly. Honestly, I'm fine with thatβdentists know mouths best anyway, right? Plus, our dentist hands out stickers... pediatrician needs to step up their game, lol.
