I had a similar experience, but for me it was smoothies. I thought they'd be perfect—cool and soothing—but even slightly acidic fruits like strawberries were surprisingly painful. Ended up sticking mostly to plain yogurt or oatmeal blended with banana (super bland, I know). It wasn't fun, but at least it didn't irritate anything. Took about 10 days before I felt brave enough to venture into anything remotely flavorful again... patience really is key with mouth biopsies.

Did you find the oatmeal and banana combo actually soothing, or just tolerable? I'm scheduled for a biopsy next week and feeling pretty anxious about the whole eating afterward thing. Smoothies were my go-to plan too, but now I'm second-guessing that idea. Maybe I'll stock up on yogurt and bananas just in case... Did you try anything warm, like broth or tea, or was that uncomfortable too?

I found oatmeal and banana more tolerable than soothing, honestly. Warm stuff like broth was actually pretty comforting for me—just make sure it's lukewarm, not hot. Tea was okay too, but skip anything acidic like lemon or citrus flavors... learned that the hard way. Yogurt was definitely a lifesaver, especially Greek yogurt since it's filling. Did your doctor mention anything about avoiding certain foods or temperatures afterward? Mine just said to avoid extremes, but specifics would've been nice.

Your doc's advice sounds about right—avoid extremes is basically dentist-speak for "don't torture yourself." 😂 Honestly, lukewarm is the sweet spot. Hot stuff can irritate the biopsy site and cold stuff might cause sensitivity or discomfort. You're spot-on about acidic foods too; citrus and spicy foods are like pouring salt on a wound (literally).

One thing I'd add from experience: crunchy or sharp-edged snacks (chips, crackers, toast) are sneaky little villains. They seem harmless until they jab you right in the sore spot. Soft scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, or even smoothies (minus acidic fruits!) can be your best buds for a few days.

Sounds like you're already doing great with yogurt and broth though—nice job figuring out what works for you. Healing mouths can be finicky, but you're definitely on the right track. Hang in there... it'll get better quicker than you think.

That's solid advice, especially the bit about crunchy snacks—I learned that one the hard way when my son had his biopsy. We thought crackers would be gentle enough, but nope... instant regret. Mashed potatoes and smoothies were definitely lifesavers.

One thing we struggled with was brushing teeth afterward. Our dentist gave us a special rinse to use instead for a couple of days, but honestly, it didn't feel like enough. Did anyone else find a good way to keep things clean without irritating the biopsy area? I'm curious if there's a better trick we missed.

Also, we found that room-temp herbal teas (like chamomile) seemed soothing without causing irritation. Just had to make sure they weren't too hot or too cold. Did you or anyone else try something similar?
