You nailed it—our mouths are crazy sensitive. I’ve had that same “is it just me?” moment after a filling felt too high. It’s wild how even a tiny adjustment can make all the difference. I honestly think dentists expect us to speak up, but a lot of people just tough it out, hoping it’ll settle. But why suffer, right? If something feels off, it probably is.

You’re spot on—our mouths really are incredibly sensitive to even the smallest changes. I always tell folks, if something feels off after dental work, don’t just wait it out. A tiny adjustment can make a world of difference. There’s no need to “tough it out”—it’s totally normal to come back if your bite feels wrong. I’ve seen people try to ignore it, hoping it’ll go away, but honestly, it rarely does on its own. Your comfort matters, and speaking up is never a bother.

I totally relate to this. I just had my first filling a couple months ago, and for days afterward, I kept wondering if my bite felt weird or if I was just imagining it. I kept biting down and second-guessing myself—like, maybe it’s supposed to feel different? My dentist had said to let her know if anything felt off, but I was honestly nervous about seeming too picky or dramatic.

After a week, I finally called and went back in. Turns out, the filling was just a tiny bit too high on one side, and she fixed it in less than five minutes. The relief was real. I felt silly for waiting so long, but also kind of validated that I wasn’t just being overly anxious.

Does anyone else get that weird “is it me or is it actually off?” feeling after dental work? I always wonder if it’s common to be unsure or if some people just know right away.

Yeah, every single time. I actually convinced myself I was just being paranoid after a crown, but I kept chewing weird for days. Finally went back and, sure enough, it was a bit too high. I always feel awkward calling, but it’s never just in my head.

I get where you're coming from, but sometimes I think our mouths just need a little time to adjust, especially after bigger procedures like crowns or fillings. I've had a few cases where things felt off at first, but after a day or two, everything settled down and felt normal again. That said, if something still feels wrong after a week, it probably isn't just in your head. But a little weirdness at first doesn't always mean there's a problem.
