Maybe our brains just tune out the weird stuff until it really gets our attention...

I kinda disagree here—at least for me, I tend to notice even the smallest changes, especially if I just spent a bunch at the dentist. If something feels off after a filling or crown, my tongue’s on it nonstop. But I guess if it’s subtle, you might get used to it and not realize until the headaches or jaw pain start creeping in. Still, I’m always double-checking because I don’t want to pay for another fix down the line...

Totally get this—our mouths are insanely sensitive. Even a tiny bump feels huge when you’re running your tongue over it all day. I’ve seen people notice microscopic high spots nobody else would pick up. Still, sometimes the brain really does tune out minor stuff, especially if it’s gradual. That’s when the headaches or jaw issues sneak up, like you said. It’s wild how much a small adjustment can change things.

It's wild how even the tiniest uneven spot can feel massive when your tongue keeps finding it. I see a lot of people come back after a filling or crown just because something feels a bit "off," even if it looks perfect on x-rays. Have you ever had a spot that bugged you for days but then, weirdly, your brain just got used to it? Or do you find it always gets worse if you leave it alone?

THE TINIEST BUMP FEELS LIKE A BOULDER

Totally get this. It always cracks me up how a filling that’s off by like, a millimeter, suddenly feels like you’ve got a Lego stuck in your mouth. I’ve had patients come back swearing something’s wrong, and honestly, half the time I can’t even spot it until I run the explorer over it. Personally, I had a crown last year that felt weird for a week—my tongue just wouldn’t let it go. Then one day, poof, I stopped noticing. Guess our brains are pretty adaptable... unless it’s sharp or actually causing pain, then yeah, it usually needs a tweak.

It’s wild how sensitive our mouths are, right? I remember getting a tiny composite filling—barely visible, but my tongue wouldn’t leave it alone for days. It felt huge, like I’d grown an extra tooth or something. It’s funny how the brain eventually tunes it out, but until then, it’s all you can focus on. If it’s actually sharp or catching, though, I always get it checked. No point suffering if a quick adjustment will fix it.
