My dad finally went through with getting dental implants after months of debating between implants and bridges. He's 72 and was pretty nervous about the whole thing, you know, worried about pain, recovery, and if it'd even be worth it at his age. But honestly, it's been a total game changer for him. He can eat whatever he wants again (he's already planning a steak dinner lol), and he's smiling way more confidently now. The recovery wasn't as bad as he expected eitherβjust some soreness for a few days.
I'm curious if anyone else's parents or grandparents have had similar experiences with either implants or bridges. Did it make a noticeable difference in their quality of life? Would love to hear some success stories or even funny anecdotes about adjusting to new teeth...my dad's still getting used to his reflection haha.
My mom went with bridges instead of implants at around 68, mainly because she was nervous about the surgery. Honestly, they've worked pretty well for herβshe's eating comfortably again and smiling more often. But she does complain occasionally about cleaning underneath them being a bit tricky. Hearing your dad's experience makes me wonder if implants would've been easier long-term...might bring it up at her next checkup. Glad your dad's doing great though, steak dinner sounds perfect right now haha.
