I tried the shelf liner hack after the foam grip disaster (seriously, why do they always get so gross so fast?). Not gonna lie, it looked like I was brushing with a tiny rolled-up yoga mat, but my hands were happier. I’ve even used those fat pencil grips from the school supply aisle—awkward, but they help. At this point, I care more about not dropping my toothbrush than looking like I’m crafting in the bathroom. If it keeps my knuckles from screaming, I’m in.

The foam grips are the worst—mine always got sticky, like they were melting or something. I switched to wrapping my handle with that self-adhesive bandage tape you find in the first aid aisle. It’s not pretty, but it’s grippy and doesn’t get gross as fast. Electric toothbrushes helped me too, since the handles are chunkier and I don’t have to squeeze so hard. Honestly, whatever saves my hands from flaring up is a win, even if it looks a little ridiculous.

That sticky foam grip thing drives me nuts too—what is it with those? I’ve seen people wrap handles with all sorts of stuff, but I haven’t tried the bandage tape yet. Does it hold up after getting wet a bunch of times, or do you have to re-wrap it every week? I’ve had some luck with those silicone sleeves you can slide over the handle, but they’re not perfect either... sometimes they slip around if you get toothpaste on them.

Electric toothbrushes definitely seem like a game changer for stiff hands. Have you noticed any difference in how clean your teeth feel compared to a regular brush, or is it mostly about comfort? I’m always curious if the chunkier handle makes folks brush longer or better, or if it’s just easier to hold. And honestly, who cares what it looks like if your hands aren’t hurting—function over fashion, right?

Bandage tape actually holds up better than I expected, but it does start to peel after a week or two if you’re running it under water every day. I’ve tried wrapping it tighter, but then it feels too rigid. The silicone sleeves slip for me too, especially if my hands are damp. As for electric toothbrushes, I switched mainly for comfort, but honestly, my teeth do feel cleaner—probably because I’m brushing longer since it’s less painful to hold. The chunky handle is a lifesaver on stiff days, even if it looks a bit goofy.

That handle really is a game changer—honestly, I’ll take goofy over dropping my toothbrush any day. Tried duct tape once as a “budget” grip, but it left sticky gunk everywhere. Electric brushes are pricy up front, but mine’s lasted years and my wrists are way happier.
