My dentist once joked my teeth are like a jigsaw puzzle, so I get the “nooks and crannies” struggle.

Same here—my molars have crevices I swear weren’t there last year. I bounce between Sonicare for the basics and Waterpik when I’m feeling ambitious (or after eating popcorn, honestly). It’s a bit of a dance, but worth it for that clean feeling.

Those deep grooves in molars are notorious for trapping food—popcorn hulls are the worst. I usually recommend using both: Sonicare for daily brushing, Waterpik to flush out the stubborn stuff. Some folks find string floss gets deeper, but honestly, it’s whatever you’ll actually stick with. If you feel like your Waterpik isn’t reaching everything, try angling the tip along the gumline and pausing between teeth... makes a difference for a lot of my patients.

We’ve been using the Waterpik with my 8-year-old since her molars came in, and you’re right about those grooves—popcorn bits are a nightmare. I’ve tried angling the tip like you mentioned, but sometimes she still struggles to get stuff out.

“try angling the tip along the gumline and pausing between teeth...”
Any tips for getting kids to actually pause long enough? Or is there a Sonicare attachment that’s better for little mouths?
