Retainer snapped in half—what now?

I feel you on the “where’s the retainer” struggle—mine somehow ends up in the weirdest places, like under my bed or in my laundry basket. I tried using an old one too, but it just made my teeth ache. Neon case is a game changer, honestly. Still, I wish these things weren’t so fragile... makes me wonder if there’s a sturdier option out there.

I totally relate to the fragility issue. Mine cracked from just dropping it on the bathroom counter once—didn’t even seem like a big fall. I’ve read that some people get metal Hawley retainers instead of the clear plastic ones, and apparently they’re tougher? Not sure if they’re as comfy, though. I keep thinking about how annoying it is to have to replace these things so often...

Yeah, these clear retainers are like the eggshells of dental gear—mine snapped just from biting down a little too hard on popcorn. Anyone else feel like the Hawley ones look kinda retro though? I wonder if they’re actually more durable or just less likely to vanish in a napkin.

I’ve had both types—clear ones are so easy to lose or crack, it’s almost a joke at this point. My Hawley’s lasted way longer, but yeah, they definitely have that 90s vibe. At least you can’t accidentally throw them out with your lunch...

That’s actually super reassuring to hear about the Hawley ones lasting longer. I’ve been so paranoid with my clear retainer—like, I’m always double-checking where I set it down. The 90s vibe is kinda funny, but durability sounds worth it. Thanks for sharing that perspective, makes me feel less worried if I have to switch.
