My niece just got braces and she's kinda freaking out about eating lunch at school. I remember those days... spinach stuck in wires, awkward smiles, you know the drill. Told her about the time I accidentally shot a rubber band across the table while laughingβ€”still cringe thinking about it, haha. Anyone else have funny or helpful stories from their brace-face days? Maybe some survival tips I can pass along?

Haha, totally relatable... but honestly, most people barely notice the spinach or whatever else gets stuck. I found rinsing with water discreetly after eating helped a ton. She'll get the hang of it quicker than she thinks.

Yeah, rinsing definitely helps, but honestly, carrying one of those tiny interdental brushes saved me more times than I can count. They're small enough to hide in your pocket or pencil case, and you can quickly duck into the bathroom to clear out any stubborn bits. Also, I found that choosing softer foods at school (think pasta or sandwiches instead of leafy salads) made lunchtime way less stressful... just until you get more comfortable with the braces routine.

I've been sticking mostly to pasta too, but doesn't that get boring after a while? I'm curious if anyone's found other soft foods that aren't just carbs all the time. Also, do those interdental brushes really work better than floss picks? I've been using picks, but sometimes they feel kinda awkward with braces...
