My dentist casually mentioned at my son's last check-up that we might wanna think about seeing an orthodontist soon. He's only 8, and I was kinda surprisedβI thought braces and all that stuff came later, like middle school or something. Now I'm wondering if I'm behind the curve here, lol. Did anyone else get told to start orthodontic visits this early, or is my dentist just being extra cautious?
My daughter was about 8 or 9 when our dentist suggested the same thing. Honestly, I thought it was a bit early too, but we went anyway just to see. Turns out they didn't put braces on her right away, but they did spot an issue with her jaw alignment that was way easier (and cheaper, thank goodness...) to fix since we caught it early. Maybe your dentist is being cautious, but it can't hurt to get it checked out. Did anyone else end up avoiding more serious orthodontic work by starting visits earlier?
