gum graft recovery is driving me nuts
Seriously, didn't realize how annoying gum graft aftercare could be... trying to eat soup without slurping, brushing super gently like my teeth are made of glass. Anyone else feel like they're babying their mouth way too much or am I just overthinking it?

You're definitely not overthinking it - gum graft recovery can feel incredibly tedious. I went through mine last year, and honestly, the careful brushing and cautious eating drove me up the wall too. It does get easier, though. After a week or so, you'll find yourself naturally adjusting without even realizing it. Hang in there; you're doing exactly what you should be doing, even if it feels excessive right now.
It sounds like you’re being careful for good reason, but have you asked your periodontist exactly when you can resume normal brushing and eating? The timeline can vary quite a bit depending on the graft site and technique, so their instructions should take priority over general recovery advice.
I’d qualify the “after a week” point. That may be when things start feeling less awkward, but it isn’t necessarily the point to resume normal chewing or brushing. Graft site and technique matter, so follow your periodontist’s instructions rather than testing a preset milestone.
