"Did you find that your taste went back to normal fairly quickly, or did it linger for a while? Just trying to mentally prepare myself..."

Totally get where you're coming from—taste changes were one of my biggest worries too. For me, things tasted a bit off for about a week or so after surgery. Savory stuff like broth and creamy soups definitely helped, especially since sweet things felt weirdly intense at first. But honestly, it wasn't as bad as I'd built it up in my head...and before I knew it, everything was back to normal. You've got this!

Same here, taste was definitely off for a bit longer than I expected—maybe closer to two weeks. My kiddo had surgery recently, and we stocked up on all these sweet smoothies thinking they'd be perfect...turns out they tasted way too intense and kinda weird at first. Ended up sticking mostly to bland stuff like mashed potatoes, oatmeal, scrambled eggs—anything mild and easy seemed safest. Honestly, it wasn't terrible, just annoying more than anything else. But yeah, everyone's different, so you might bounce back quicker. Fingers crossed it's short-lived for you...and hey, good excuse to binge-watch something while you're recovering, right?

Ha, totally relate to this part. I bought a bunch of fancy smoothie ingredients thinking I'd treat myself, but ended up sticking mostly to basic soups and mashed potatoes. Honestly, don't underestimate the comfort of plain ramen noodles—cheap, easy, and somehow perfect when your mouth feels off. Got any good shows lined up for your recovery binge? Might as well make the most of the downtime...

I was thinking ramen too, but isn't it kinda salty? Heard saltiness can sting after surgery. Maybe something bland like oatmeal or scrambled eggs would be safer...anyone tried those post-op? Curious what's easiest on the mouth.

Yeah, ramen can definitely sting a bit—I learned that the hard way. Scrambled eggs worked great for me, though. They're soft and easy to swallow, plus you can adjust the seasoning to keep it mild. Oatmeal's good too, but sometimes the texture felt a little weird in my mouth right after surgery...maybe just personal preference? Have you thought about mashed potatoes or smoothies? Those were lifesavers for me in the first couple days.
