Good call on the peanut butter—it's tasty and budget-friendly. Just a heads-up though, peanut butter can sometimes stick around your teeth and gums, which isn't ideal post-surgery. Have you considered Greek yogurt instead? It's smooth, protein-rich, and easier to rinse away...

Greek yogurt is a great suggestion—my daughter practically lived off it after her wisdom teeth came out. She wasn't too thrilled about the texture of peanut butter either, said it was a bit uncomfortable to get out from around the stitches. Have you thought about smoothies too? We blended yogurt with some frozen fruit and spinach, and it was a lifesaver when she didn't feel like eating much else. Also, just wanted to say you're doing great prepping ahead...makes recovery so much smoother. How soon is your surgery scheduled? Hope everything goes smoothly for you!

Smoothies are definitely a good call, especially if chewing feels uncomfortable at first. When my son had his wisdom teeth out, we also tried mashed sweet potatoes and soups like butternut squash or tomato bisque. He appreciated the variety after a couple days of yogurt and smoothies.

Have you considered savory options yet? Sometimes people get tired of sweet stuff pretty quickly, and having something warm and salty can be comforting. Scrambled eggs or even blended soups with a bit of melted cheese worked well for us. Also, curious if your dentist mentioned anything about temperature sensitivity—my son found cold foods soothing, but I've heard some people prefer room temp or slightly warm foods right after surgery. Did your dentist give any specific recommendations on that?

My daughter is scheduled for oral surgery next week, and honestly, I'm feeling pretty anxious about it. We've stocked up on smoothies and yogurt already, but now I'm wondering if maybe that's too much sweet stuff. Did your son have any issues with spices or seasonings in the savory foods? I'm worried that even mild soups or mashed potatoes might irritate her gums or something. Also, did you find that certain textures were easier than others? Like, scrambled eggs sound good, but I'm not sure if they'd be too chunky or sticky at first. Our dentist didn't really get into specifics about temperature sensitivity, just said to avoid extremes. Did your son mention anything about warm foods causing discomfort or swelling? Just trying to cover all the bases here...

My son was actually okay with mild seasonings like a bit of salt or butter, but anything acidic or peppery was a no-go at first. Scrambled eggs worked well for him, but we made them extra soft and fluffy—almost runny—to avoid stickiness. Warm foods were fine as long as they weren't hot-hot, just lukewarm seemed best. You're doing great prepping ahead, and honestly, the anxiety beforehand is totally normal...hang in there, it'll be behind you both soon enough.
