Totally agree on the lukewarm thing—temperature sensitivity after surgery is pretty common. Did your son also find softer textures like mashed potatoes or cooked oatmeal easier than eggs initially? I usually tell patients to watch out for hidden irritants, too, like cinnamon or garlic powder—even small amounts can sneak up and cause discomfort. Sounds like you're already on top of things though...and yeah, the anxiety beforehand is always worse than the actual recovery.

Mashed potatoes and oatmeal were definitely easier for me at first. Eggs seemed soft enough in theory, but I found them oddly tricky—maybe the texture or something? You're spot-on with the hidden irritants too; I learned the hard way that even mild seasonings like paprika can cause discomfort. One thing I'd also mention (especially if you're budget-conscious like me) is stocking up on homemade soups beforehand—easy, gentle on the mouth, and way cheaper than store-bought meal replacements.

Mashed potatoes were my go-to as well, but oatmeal was a bit tricky for me—something about the tiny oats getting stuck in places they shouldn't. Eggs are funny like that; you'd think they'd be perfect, but scrambled eggs especially gave me trouble. I ended up doing soft-boiled eggs instead, mashed up really well with a bit of butter. Worked like a charm.

Homemade soups are definitely underrated. I remember prepping a huge batch of creamy potato leek soup before my wisdom teeth came out. It was comforting, filling, and didn't irritate at all. Plus, like you said, way cheaper than those meal replacement shakes.

Did anyone else find smoothies helpful? I know they're popular, but personally, the cold temperature sometimes made my mouth ache more. Curious if others had the same issue or if it was just me being overly sensitive...

Yeah, smoothies were a bit of a double-edged sword for my daughter. She loved the taste and the variety we could make, but the cold really bothered her too. We ended up letting them sit out a bit until they were more room temp—sounds kinda gross, but it worked. Did anyone else try lukewarm smoothies, or was that just us being weird?

I actually found lukewarm smoothies way easier too—cold stuff made my teeth ache like crazy. I ended up blending bananas, peanut butter, and protein powder, then letting it sit a bit. Looked weird but tasted pretty good...did anyone else have go-to ingredients?
