"The straw thing felt awkward and didn't help much."

Haha, totally relate to the straw feeling weirdβ€”I tried it for a week and just couldn't get used to sipping hot coffee that way. Did anyone notice their teeth becoming sensitive to cold drinks too after whitening? Mine got pretty touchy...

Yeah, I noticed the sensitivity too, especially with ice-cold water. It lasted about a week for me, then gradually eased up. Switching to a toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth helped quite a bit...might be worth trying if it keeps bothering you.

I agree, sensitivity after whitening treatments is pretty common. Did your dentist mention fluoride treatments afterward? I've heard they can help strengthen enamel and reduce sensitivity...might be worth asking about next time you're in.

I had whitening done a couple years back and the sensitivity afterward was pretty rough for me too. My dentist did suggest fluoride, but honestly, I was hesitant...heard mixed things about it. Ended up using a sensitive toothpaste instead, which helped somewhat. Still cautious about doing it again though.

Yeah, sensitivity afterward can be tough...my daughter had whitening done last year and we went with sensitive toothpaste too. Took a little time, but it did get better. Hang in there, you're not alone in feeling cautious about it.
