I've noticed the same thing with my sonβhe had some sensitivity after whitening too. We tried the sensitive toothpaste trick beforehand, and it definitely reduced discomfort. Also found that spacing out sessions a bit more helped...gave his teeth time to recover between treatments.
Totally agree about spacing out the sessionsβlearned that the hard way myself. First time I got mine whitened, I went all-in with back-to-back appointments thinking I'd get that Hollywood smile faster. Big mistake...felt like my teeth were zapped by lightning for days afterward. Sensitive toothpaste beforehand definitely helps, but I also found rinsing with lukewarm water instead of cold made a surprising difference. Weird, right? Guess teeth can be drama queens too, lol.
Yeah, lukewarm water actually makes sense...cold water hits sensitive teeth like an ice pick sometimes. Did you notice if the sensitivity got better after a couple days, or did it linger longer for you? Mine eased up pretty quick, thankfully.
Mine was pretty intense the first day or two, honestly. I remember sipping my coffee through a straw like a weirdo because even warm drinks felt uncomfortable. Thankfully, by day three it was noticeably better, and after about a week I barely noticed it anymore. Did your dentist recommend any special toothpaste or anything to help with sensitivity? Mine mentioned something about it, but I totally forgot to ask for specifics...

My dentist recommended Sensodyne Rapid Relief toothpaste after my whitening session, and it genuinely helped ease the discomfort. I had similar sensitivity issuesβcouldn't even handle room-temperature water comfortably for a couple of days. Using the toothpaste twice daily made a noticeable difference within a few days. You might want to give it a try if you're still experiencing sensitivity... it worked wonders for me.
