So I've been dealing with receding gums for like...years now, and dentists kept suggesting surgery or expensive treatments. Honestly, didn't feel like going that route yet. Spent some time googling around (you know how it goes lol) and found a few natural methods that people swore by. Figured, hey, why not give it a shot.

Started oil pulling with coconut oil every day, switched to a softer toothbrush, and started massaging my gums with aloe vera gel before bed. Didn't see much at first and almost gave up...but after 3 months of sticking with it, my gums actually look way healthier! Like visibly less recession and sensitivity is pretty much gone.

Kinda surprised it worked tbh, but really happy I stuck with it. Curious if anyone else tried something similar and actually saw results too? Or am I just lucky here, lol.

Yeah, I feel you on the dentist thing...my wallet still cries whenever I think about the quote they gave me last year. I actually tried oil pulling too after my sister wouldn't stop raving about it. Thought she was just being trendy, but after a couple months my gums definitely felt less sensitive. Didn't notice much visual improvement myself, but hey, anything that saves me from expensive treatments is a win in my book, lol. Maybe I'll throw aloe vera into the mix next...

I've heard good things about aloe vera too, but honestly, I'm still a bit nervous about trying these natural remedies instead of just biting the bullet and going to the dentist. Did you notice any side effects or weird sensations with oil pulling?

I've been curious about oil pulling myself, but honestly, the idea of swishing oil around for 20 minutes makes me a bit uneasy. A friend of mine tried it and mentioned feeling slightly nauseous at first, though she said it passed after a few days. She did notice some improvement in her gums, but nothing dramatic enough to skip dental visits altogether. Personally, I've always leaned towards professional treatments—maybe I'm just overly cautious—but I do wonder if combining natural remedies with regular dental care might be the sweet spot? Has anyone here tried mixing both approaches and noticed better results than sticking strictly to one or the other?

I've actually combined oil pulling with regular dental cleanings for about a year now. Didn't reverse my gum recession completely, but sensitivity definitely improved. Seems like a balanced approach might be worth considering, at least from my experience.
