Just found out something kinda weird today. Apparently, if your gums recede enough to expose the root of your tooth, it's not just sensitive and annoying, but it can actually cause cavities faster because the root surface isn't as tough as the enamel. Never really thought about roots being softer than the rest of the tooth, you know? Now I'm kinda paranoid about brushing too hard or something, lol. Anyone else heard about this or dealt with it themselves?

Yeah, I've dealt with this myself actually. My dentist explained that the root surface is cementum, which is definitely softer and more vulnerable than enamel. I used to brush way too aggressively, thinking harder brushing meant cleaner teeth... turns out that's exactly what caused my gums to recede in the first place. Now I'm stuck using sensitive toothpaste and a super soft toothbrush.

Have you noticed if your toothbrush bristles flare out quickly? That's usually a sign you're pressing too hard. Also, do you use an electric toothbrush or manual? Switching to electric helped me control the pressure better, but it took some getting used to. Curious if anyone else found switching brushes helpful or if it's just me being overly cautious now, haha.
