My biggest fear is dropping mine in some airport bathroom and then what? Game over.

That’s honestly my nightmare too. I once dropped my retainer case in a gas station restroom—luckily it was closed, but still, I spent the rest of the trip feeling like I was carrying around a biohazard. I totally get the double-bagging thing. You’re not being paranoid, just prepared. It’s wild how much peace of mind comes from having backups and a plan, even if it seems “extra” to some people.

That’s so real. I actually keep a spare case in my carry-on just in case something gross happens—or if I just drop it somewhere sketchy. Might be a little overkill, but honestly, peace of mind is worth it.

Totally get it. My kid lost a case in a restaurant bathroom once—never again. Now we always pack an extra, just makes life easier. It’s not overkill if it keeps things less stressful.

That’s smart. I used to think carrying a backup case was just extra stuff to lug around, but after nearly dropping mine in a public sink, I get it now. Do you also bring any cleaning supplies or just stick with cases?

I actually always toss a small travel-size bottle of retainer cleaner in my bag—just feels safer than relying on hotel soap or water. I’ve had a few close calls with questionable sinks, so I’d rather have something familiar. Sometimes I’ll pack a few denture-cleaning tablets too. The backup case is non-negotiable for me now, but a little cleaning kit doesn’t take up much space and gives some peace of mind.
