Ugh, I just realized my retainer cracked, and of course it's the weekend so my ortho's office is closed. I really don't wanna mess up my teeth alignment after all that time with braces, you know? Anyone have any quick fixes or temporary hacks they've tried that actually worked until they could get a replacement? I'm kinda desperate here, lol.

Totally understandable to feel stressed about this, but don't panic too muchβyour teeth won't shift dramatically in just a couple days. If the crack isn't sharp or uncomfortable, gently wearing it overnight might help maintain alignment temporarily. Just avoid DIY glue fixes...they rarely end well. Hang in there!

Haha, can confirm this from personal experience. I once tried supergluing my retainer back togetherβended up with a weird chemical taste and a retainer that looked like abstract art. If it's just cracked, gently wearing it overnight might hold things steady temporarily, but definitely get a replacement ASAP. Has anyone here tried those temporary moldable mouthguards from the pharmacy? Wondering if they're any good as a short-term fix or just another waste of money...
Tried one of those moldable pharmacy guards once when I lost my retainer on vacation. Honestly, it wasn't terrible...but definitely not ideal. Felt bulky and awkward, and I woke up drooling more than usual, lol. Still, better than nothing for a couple nights. I'd say they're okay-ish as a super short-term fix, but don't rely on them too long or your teeth might shift.
