For me, the mental hurdle stuck around longer than the physical discomfort. I kept second-guessing if I’d feel a jolt of pain, even though logically, like you said, there shouldn’t be any.
Funny enough, I was kind of the opposite. Once the numbness wore off and I didn’t get that sharp twinge, my brain just flipped a switch and I stopped worrying. Cold stuff actually freaked me out more than crunchy foods, though—I kept expecting that old zinger pain. My dentist wasn’t super specific either, just “chew on the other side for a bit,” but honestly, I was back to chips pretty quick. Guess everyone’s brain handles it differently.
