"Made me realize it's always worth asking questions if something doesn't sit right."

That's reassuring to hear—I recently had my first dental checkup in years, and the dentist recommended several fillings right away. Honestly, it made me pretty anxious because I wasn't experiencing any discomfort. After reading your experience, I'm considering getting a second opinion just to ease my mind. It's comforting to know others have had similar doubts and found clarity by asking more questions...makes me feel less paranoid about it.

I totally get where you're coming from. A few years back, I went to a new dentist after moving towns and they immediately suggested I needed like four fillings. FOUR. I nearly fell out of the chair—partly shock, partly imagining my wallet crying quietly in my pocket.

Anyway, since nothing hurt, I decided to hold off and got a second opinion from another dentist recommended by a friend. Turns out only one tooth really needed attention; the others were just "watch spots" that could wait and see. Saved myself a decent chunk of change (and panic attacks).

So yeah, always worth double-checking if your gut says something feels off. Dentists are humans too, after all—some are cautious, some are proactive...and some might just have boat payments due soon. 😉

Haha, this made me chuckle because I've definitely wondered the same thing sometimes. I had a similar experience where one dentist recommended an expensive deep cleaning, but another said regular cleanings would be fine as long as I kept up with flossing. Makes you wonder how much is necessary vs. precautionary. Do you guys usually trust your dentist's first recommendation or do you tend to shop around a bit?

Haha, I totally get your hesitation. I've had dentists give me conflicting advice too, and it always leaves me feeling a bit uneasy. Usually, I end up going with the more conservative option first, just to see how things go. But yeah, it's hard to shake that nagging feeling of "what if..." Glad I'm not the only one who wonders about this stuff!

Yeah, same here... I always wonder if I'm overdoing it or not doing enough. Last time I waited, things got worse, so now I lean toward just getting stuff checked sooner. Better safe than sorry, right?
