Hypothetical scenario: you get your teeth cleaned at the dentist, everything feels fine at first, but then later that day you bite into ice cream and BAM—instant regret. Um...would you just wait it out or call the dentist back?

I've been there, and honestly, I wouldn't rush to call the dentist right away. Sometimes after a cleaning, your teeth can get a bit sensitive because they've removed all the plaque buildup that was kinda shielding them. Usually settles down in a day or two. Maybe skip the ice cream (I know, bummer...) and stick to room-temp stuff for now. If it keeps bugging you after a few days though, then yeah, probably worth checking in with them.

Haha, can confirm—my daughter had the same issue after her last cleaning. She was pretty disappointed when I had to veto her post-dentist milkshake tradition. Sensitivity usually eased up after a day or two, though. Dentist mentioned something about exposed dentin causing temporary sensitivity...nothing serious, just annoying. If it drags on past a few days, might be worth a quick call, but otherwise, patience (and lukewarm snacks) should do the trick.
