I've only had IV sedation myself, so I can't directly compare it to laughing gas. But from what my dentist explained, IV sedation doesn't really affect swelling or the physical healing processβ€”it's mostly about anxiety and making sure you're comfortable during the procedure itself. Honestly, if laughing gas worked fine for you before, I'm not sure the extra cost would be justified. Did your dentist mention anything about differences in recovery experiences between the two?

I've had both IV sedation and laughing gas at different times, and honestly, the recovery felt pretty similar to me. IV sedation definitely knocked me out more during the procedure, but afterward, swelling and healing seemed about the same. If anxiety isn't a huge issue for you, laughing gas might be enough. Did your dentist say anything about how long the extraction might take? For shorter procedures, laughing gas was totally fine in my experience...and cheaper too.

I've only had laughing gas, and honestly, it was pretty chill. Did your dentist mention if your tooth is impacted or anything tricky? If it's straightforward, laughing gas might be all you need...plus you save some cash for ice cream afterward.

Had laughing gas for mine too, and it was honestly way better than I expected. My dentist said the tooth was partially impacted, but nothing too complicated...and it turned out fine. Felt super relaxed, almost like dozing off on a lazy afternoon. Plus, saved some cash compared to IV sedation, which definitely went towards frozen yogurt afterwardβ€”priorities, right? Guess it depends on how anxious you are about dental stuff, but for me, laughing gas was totally enough. Good luck either way!

I totally get where you're coming from with the laughing gasβ€”it does sound pretty chill and budget-friendly too. When I had mine extracted, though, the dentist recommended IV sedation because my tooth was deeply impacted and sitting close to a nerve. I tend to overthink everything (especially dental stuff), and honestly, I appreciated being completely out of it. Woke up feeling like it had just been seconds, and everything was done.

Laughing gas sounds great for simpler cases, but for anything complicated or anxiety-inducing, IV might be worth considering. Yeah, it's pricier, but peace of mind was a big factor for me, and I didn't mind skipping froyo once (though that does sound tempting now...). Guess it really boils down to your comfort level and the complexity of your extraction. Either way, hope it goes smoothly!
