"Worked great for a couple years until she bit into an apple and popped it loose—cue panic mode!"

Haha, apples strike again...been there! Did your ortho mention if the bonded wires are generally sturdier long-term, or is it more about personal habits? Glad your daughter's doing better with the clear ones now.

Yep, apples are sneaky like that. Honestly though, bonded wires can be pretty sturdy if they're done right and you watch what you're biting into. I've had mine for years without issues, but I learned the hard way—corn on the cob is another sneaky culprit. Clear retainers are great too, but they can warp if you're not careful with hot drinks or leaving them in the sun. Glad your daughter's found something comfortable though...that's half the battle.

Apples are definitely tricky, but honestly, carrots are my personal nemesis...especially those sneaky baby carrots. My kiddo had bonded wires too, and they seemed pretty solid until one day—snap—right in the middle of lunch. Cue panic mode! Clear retainers do seem easier, but yeah, we've warped a couple by accidently leaving them in a hot car. Lesson learned the expensive way, I guess. Now we keep a spare case in the glove compartment just in case.

Glad your daughter's comfortable now though. Finding something that doesn't drive them crazy is such a relief. We went through three different styles before finally settling on something that worked. Hang in there...it gets easier once you figure out all the little quirks.

Ugh, totally agree about the carrots. But have you tried popcorn yet? I made that mistake last weekend—thought I'd be careful, but nope, instant regret and anxiety spike. Still figuring out what foods are actually safe...

Ugh, popcorn is definitely a tricky one. I remember being super careful after my whitening session—thought I'd stick to "safe" foods like soup and smoothies. But then I got brave and tried some blueberries blended into yogurt...big mistake. My teeth looked like they'd been tie-dyed purple for days, lol. It's all trial and error, but hang in there—it gets easier once you find your safe snacks.
