Funny you mention milkβ€”I tried that, but for me it just kinda coats the weirdness rather than fixing it. What actually helps me more (weirdly enough) is bread. Plain old white bread, step one: tear off a chunk. Step two: chew slowly until it sorta absorbs whatever evil's going on in there. Step three: swallow and repeat as needed. Smoothies never bothered me much either, though pineapple juice is straight-up torture now... go figure. Mouth sensitivity really is a wild ride, huh?

Totally relate to the bread thingβ€”my daughter had a similar experience after her braces adjustment. Milk didn't help her either, just made things feel slimy and weird, she said. But bread was a lifesaver... she'd nibble on soft dinner rolls or even plain sandwich bread, and it seemed to calm down whatever irritation was going on in there. Funny how something so simple can make such a difference.

Smoothies were hit or miss for us, though. Banana-based ones were fine, but anything citrusy or acidic (like pineapple or orange juice) was a definite no-go. She'd cringe at the thought of pineapple juice now tooβ€”must be something about the acidity level? Mouth sensitivity really is unpredictable and tricky to navigate sometimes. Glad you found something that works for you though... small victories count!

Bread didn't really help me much, weirdly enough... felt like it stuck to everything and made things worse. I found yogurt way more soothingβ€”maybe the coolness helped? But yeah, citrus smoothies were definitely a mistake I won't repeat anytime soon.

Yogurt makes sense, actually... I've heard from others that cool, creamy textures can soothe irritation better than something dry like bread. Did you notice if dairy-free yogurts had the same effect, or was it specifically regular yogurt?

I tried dairy-free yogurt once after my braces adjustment, thinking it'd help just like regular yogurt. Honestly, it didn't feel quite as soothing... maybe it's something about the dairy itself? Regular yogurt seemed smoother somehow, at least for me. Curious if others had a different experience though.
