Sometimes the simplest routines end up being the most effective.

That’s been my experience too, honestly. I got a little too enthusiastic with the baking soda thing last year after reading a bunch of “miracle” stories online. Ended up with my gums feeling raw and weirdly tingly for days—definitely not what I was hoping for. The charcoal trend had me curious, but after seeing how gritty it looked, I chickened out. Maybe that’s for the best.

I totally get wanting fast results (I’ve stared at my teeth in the mirror more times than I care to admit), but every time I try some shortcut, my mouth just rebels. Now I just use a gentle whitening toothpaste and floss regularly. Not exciting, but at least my gums aren’t mad at me anymore.

If your gums are still sore, maybe take a break from all the “whitening hacks.” Sometimes less really is more, even if it’s boring. And hey, at least you’re not alone in the search for a brighter smile—seems like we’ve all tried something a little weird at some point.
