baby gum care tips that actually worked for us?

When our little guy started teething, I was kinda lost at first. Then a friend suggested gently wiping gums with a soft damp cloth after feedings and later switching to a tiny silicone finger brush when the first teeth popped up. Worked pretty well for us, but does anyone else do it differently or have a better trick?

We did something similar, but honestly, the silicone brush was a no-go for my daughterβ€”she hated it and would clamp her mouth shut every time she saw it coming, lol. We ended up using a super soft baby toothbrush pretty early on instead. She seemed to tolerate that better, maybe because it looked more like what we were using ourselves? Did anyone else's kid reject the finger brush too, or was mine just extra picky...?

Haha, nope, definitely not just yours. My son acted like the silicone brush was some kind of torture deviceβ€”he'd twist away and give me this look like, "Really, Mom?" We switched pretty quickly to a soft-bristle baby toothbrush as well, and it made a huge difference. I think you're onto something about them wanting to mimic us. Kids seem to pick up on that stuff way earlier than we realize.

Quick question though: did you find any particular brand or shape of toothbrush worked better? We tried a couple different ones, and weirdly enough, he preferred the one with the slightly bigger handle. Maybe easier for him to grab onto himself? Curious if anyone else noticed something similar.
