That sounds rough, especially with the sleep issues. Did you find anything that helped you finally get a decent night’s rest? I’ve heard some folks prop themselves up with a couple pillows instead of going full fortress mode, but it’s hit or miss. Also, were you able to eat normally after a few days, or did that take longer too?

Honestly, sleep was the worst part for me too. I tried stacking up pillows like people suggested, but it just felt awkward and my neck started hurting. What actually worked better (and saved me from buying a fancy wedge pillow) was rolling up a towel under my regular one for a bit of lift—cheap and did the trick without making my bed feel like an obstacle course.

Eating was another story... I definitely wasn’t back to normal in just a couple days. Soup and mashed potatoes were my best friends for almost a week. Anything crunchy or chewy was out of the question, and honestly, I didn’t want to risk messing up the healing just to eat normally. I know some folks jump right back into regular food, but I’d rather play it safe than end up with dry socket and more bills.

If you’re watching your budget like I am, sticking to simple home remedies and soft foods can really help keep costs down during recovery.

I know what you mean about the pillow mountain—tried that myself and just ended up tossing and turning all night. But honestly, I did end up splurging on a wedge pillow, and for me it made a difference. Maybe it’s just personal preference, but the support felt a bit more even and my neck didn’t get as stiff. I guess everyone’s got their thing.

On the food front, I was surprised how quickly I could handle soft pasta and scrambled eggs. I was super careful, but I found if I stuck to one side of my mouth, it worked out fine. I get wanting to play it safe though—dry socket sounds like the worst.

Wedge pillow made a world of difference for me too—so much better than stacking regular pillows and waking up with a crick in my neck. As for food, I was way more cautious, maybe even too much. Didn’t touch anything but applesauce and yogurt for days... guess I’m just paranoid about dry socket after hearing horror stories. But you’re right, pasta and eggs are a good step up once you feel ready.

Yeah, stacking pillows just made me feel like I was building a fortress... and still woke up with my head at a weird angle. Wedge pillow was a game changer for sure. I was super paranoid about dry socket too—basically lived on mashed potatoes and pudding for way longer than necessary. Honestly, the first time I tried “real” food again, I felt like I’d graduated or something.
