"personally I've found apple cider vinegar diluted in water surprisingly effective for balancing overly strong herbal extracts."
Interesting point about apple cider vinegar—I agree it can be effective, but personally, I've found the acidity a bit harsh for frequent use, especially if your scalp or skin is sensitive. Instead, I've had better luck using diluted rosewater or even witch hazel. Both seem gentler and still do a great job balancing out overly potent herbal concoctions. Plus, the scent is definitely more pleasant and subtle than vinegar... at least in my experience.
Interesting suggestions here. I've never tried rosewater myself, but witch hazel has definitely been a lifesaver for me when extracts turn out too intense.

Yeah, same here—vinegar can be pretty drying if you're sensitive. Have you ever tried aloe vera gel diluted with water? It's soothing and seems to mellow out strong herbal smells nicely without adding any harshness... might be worth a shot if you haven't yet.
Totally agree about aloe vera gel—it's been a gentle lifesaver for us too. I once made a chamomile tincture that turned out way too strong and smelled kinda funky. Diluting it with aloe water really helped tone it down without irritating my kiddo's sensitive skin.

Witch hazel is great, but sometimes even that's a bit much for us... mixing it half-and-half with cucumber water seems to mellow things nicely. Worth experimenting a bit to see what works best.

We've had similar issues with witch hazel being a bit harsh sometimes, especially on sensitive skin. Mixing it with cucumber water sounds like a smart idea—I'll have to try that next time. Have you ever tried rosewater as a gentler alternative? Curious if anyone's had luck with that...
Rosewater's great—super gentle and smells way better than witch hazel, imo. I've used it a few times when my homemade stuff turned out a bit too intense... definitely helps mellow things out nicely. Worth a shot if cucumber water isn't your thing.
