Mashed potatoes were a lifesaver for me too, especially since they're so cheap and easy to prep. Did you try sweet potatoes at all? They're packed with nutrients and still soft enough to eat comfortably. I made mine with just a bit of butter and cinnamon—no regrets there. And yeah, garlic sounds rough...did anyone else find temperature mattered a lot? Lukewarm was my sweet spot; too hot or cold was surprisingly painful.

Totally agree about sweet potatoes—they're a great suggestion. Cinnamon sounds like a tasty touch too, I'll have to remember that for my patients. Temperature definitely matters; lukewarm foods tend to be gentler on sensitive gums and nerves. Another thing I've noticed helps is avoiding acidic foods (like tomato-based soups or citrus smoothies) for the first few days. Even if they're soft, that acidity can sting quite a bit...learned that one the hard way myself after my wisdom teeth came out.

Wish I'd read this thread earlier...I made that exact mistake after getting my braces tightened last month. Thought a nice cool orange smoothie would soothe my aching teeth, but nope—felt like I'd set my mouth on fire. Lesson learned the hard way here, too.

Sweet potatoes have definitely been a lifesaver though. I mash them up with a bit of butter and maple syrup to make it feel like a treat—comfort food at its finest. Also, weirdly enough, scrambled eggs have become my go-to. Lukewarm scrambled eggs might sound kinda gross, but trust me, they're gentle enough to eat without wincing.

Honestly, I'm just counting down the days until I can bite into something crunchy again without anxiety...

I totally get the scrambled eggs thing, but honestly lukewarm eggs just don't do it for me... Have you tried oatmeal instead? It's gentle, filling, and you can jazz it up with cinnamon or honey without worrying about acidity. Might be worth a shot next time!

Oatmeal was my go-to after my last extraction. Scrambled eggs are okay for a bit, but honestly, the texture got old fast. Oatmeal felt more satisfying and kept me full longer. Plus, adding a bit of maple syrup or mashed banana made it feel less like hospital food... Hang in there though—crunchy snacks will feel like heaven once you're healed up.
