Yikes, these DIY orthodontics trends really stress me out... I mean, teeth aren't exactly something that grows back! I totally get why teens might think they're saving money or hassle, but the long-term damage can be pretty scary. Had a friend whose cousin tried some rubber band hack from TikTok—ended up with serious gum issues and way more expensive dental work later. Honestly, better safe than sorry when it comes to your smile.

Ugh, that's rough... I totally feel for your friend's cousin. When I had braces, even the professional adjustments were uncomfortable enough—I can't imagine trying to DIY it. Honestly, orthodontics is one of those things where shortcuts just aren't worth it. Teeth move slowly for a reason, and forcing them quickly can mess up your gums and roots permanently. Better to deal with the awkward metal-mouth phase than risk losing teeth altogether, right?

Yikes, that's awful to hear about your friend's cousin. I remember when I had braces, even the legit orthodontist visits left my mouth sore for days... can't imagine how painful a DIY attempt would be. Honestly, TikTok hacks can be fun for cooking or crafts, but teeth? Nah, that's one area you definitely don't wanna mess around with. Glad they're getting professional help now though—hopefully things improve from here.

Yeah, totally agree—teeth are definitely not something to experiment with. I've seen some of those DIY braces videos, and honestly, they make me cringe every time. Even professional orthodontic treatments have risks if they're not done carefully step-by-step, like applying too much pressure or moving teeth too quickly. Plus, there's the whole issue of hygiene and infection risk... scary stuff. Glad your friend's cousin is finally seeing someone qualified; hopefully, they'll be able to minimize any lasting damage.

Reading this thread brings back memories of when I first got braces. My orthodontist was super cautious and explained every step clearly, but even then, I remember feeling nervous about the whole process. At one point, I felt like my teeth were shifting too fast and mentioned it during a check-up. Turns out, they adjusted the pressure slightly to slow things down and avoid any potential damage.

Honestly, it's scary how easily things can go wrong—even with professionals involved. Can't imagine trusting random DIY hacks from the internet... Teeth aren't exactly something you can replace easily if things go south. Glad your friend's cousin is finally getting proper care; hopefully, they'll be able to fix most of the issues without too much trouble.
