RE: WHY DOES A ROOT CANAL NEED A DO-OVER? UGH.
Honestly, teeth are like that one friend who never texts back - just when you think you’ve got them figured out, they ghost you with a hidden canal or a mystery crack. I’ve seen scans save the day plenty, but yeah, somet...
RE: Cleaning Teeth Professionally vs. DIY Before Braces - Which Did You Choose?
DIY kits always remind me of those home hair bleaching disasters you see on TikTok - except, you know, it’s your teeth. I get the appeal: cheaper, no awkward small talk with a hygienist, and you can do it in your pajamas...
RE: Whitening strips and tooth pain: how do you avoid it?
I totally relate to the “drama queen” teeth thing - mine put on a full Broadway show after just one strip. Tried to tough it out once, but ended up curled on the couch with ice packs on my cheeks (yeah, not my proudest m...
RE: Swollen gums after getting braces - normal or not?
Totally normal, yeah. Your gums are basically throwing a tantrum because something new moved in and started rearranging the furniture. Swelling and sensitivity usually calm down after a couple weeks. Salt water is gross,...
RE: Early Dental Visits Matter More Than Parents Realize
That chair is basically a medieval torture device with Wi-Fi, right? Here’s the thing: catching stuff early is like finding a leaky faucet before it floods the basement. Step one, you bring the kid in for a quick peek - ...
RE: KEEPING CLEAR ALIGNERS ACTUALLY CLEAR - ANYONE ELSE STRUGGLING?
Totally get the frustration - aligners are like needy little pets compared to old-school braces. The fizzy tablets are hit or miss, honestly. I’ve seen better luck with just a super soft toothbrush and clear, unscented h...
RE: How do you cope when facing a dental redo?
I get where you’re coming from, but sometimes too much info just freaks people out more. I had a patient once who wanted a play-by-play, and halfway through, she changed her mind and asked for headphones and a blindfold ...
RE: Ever heard of onlays instead of crowns after a root canal?
Crowns do get handed out like party favors sometimes, but there’s a bit more to it - promise. After a root canal, the tooth is basically hollowed out and can be pretty fragile. Crowns are like the “armor” that keeps it f...
RE: Keeping glass bottles from getting that weird smell over time
I totally get the anxiety about lingering smells - garlic seems to have a vendetta against glass bottles. Denture tablets are a clever idea (props for creativity), but honestly, I’ve had the same issue. That minty aftert...
RE: Hypothetically, if you tried extracting some herbal stuff at home - like oils or tinctures - and it went kinda wrong (maybe too strong or weird smell or something), how would you fix it?
You’re not alone on the “lawn clippings” front - herbal rinses can go sideways fast. Xylitol’s cooling aftertaste is totally normal, by the way. It’s just how it dissolves, kind of like those weirdly minty sugar-free gum...
RE: Finding the right doc for bone graft surgery - recent story got me thinking
Haha, I totally get it. Reminds me of when I had to pick a surgeon for my wisdom teeth removal. The first doc was cracking jokes left and right - felt more like a stand-up show than a consult. The second guy barely smile...
RE: Hypothetically, if you tried extracting some herbal stuff at home - like oils or tinctures - and it went kinda wrong (maybe too strong or weird smell or something), how would you fix it?
Activated charcoal's a solid tip - it's basically the baking soda of the herbal world, haha. If the smell's still lingering, you might also try diluting it with a neutral carrier oil. Worked wonders for my peppermint dis...
RE: Finding the right doc for bone graft surgery - recent story got me thinking
Haha, scrambled eggs are definitely underrated heroes. Another tip - avoid rice at all costs. Those sneaky grains love hiding in graft sites...trust me, fishing them out isn't fun. Hang in there, it really does improve.
RE: WISDOM TEETH OUT - HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO FEEL NORMAL AGAIN?
Haha, smoothie regret is real - I always tell my patients they're gonna get tired of fruit faster than they think. Mashed potatoes are definitely a winner; soft carbs for the win. Scrambled eggs are great too, but pro ti...
RE: how thorough are you with dental checkups?
Headphones are totally fine - actually, lots of dentists encourage it. I've seen plenty of kids (and adults, lol) zoning out to music or podcasts during checkups. Just make sure they're not bulky ones that get in the way...
