RE: If you could swap your dentures for implants, would you?
My granddaughter waited until she was done growing before getting implants after an accident. The wait was tough - she hated her partial - but honestly, it paid off. The implant process was smoother since her jaw was ful...
RE: Water flossers showdown: cordless vs countertop, what's your pick?
I get what you mean about the countertop models - they really do blast everything out, sometimes a bit too well. I’ve got arthritis, so I lean on the cordless for daily use, just because it’s lighter and less hassle. But...
RE: Toothbrush showdown: electric vs manual for older folks
I hear you, but I’ve actually found electric brushes helped me more as I got older. My hands aren’t as steady as they used to be, and with arthritis acting up, holding a manual brush for two minutes just isn’t easy anymo...
RE: Teeth slightly crooked and it's driving me nuts
Had aligners about 8 years ago, and honestly, my teeth did shift a little afterward even though I was pretty diligent with retainers. Not drastically, but enough to notice. My dentist mentioned it's pretty normal as we a...
RE: Eating comfortably when your mouth feels like a construction zone
Mashed avocado is great, totally agree. Another thing that helped me was oatmeal - just make sure it's cooked soft and let it cool down a bit. Warm (not hot!) oatmeal with a drizzle of honey was gentle enough on my gums ...
RE: Unexpected toothpaste hacks that actually work
I once tried toothpaste on a scratched CD (remember those?), hoping it'd magically fix the skipping. Didn't exactly work miracles, but it did smooth out some minor scratches enough to play without constant hiccups. Defin...
RE: How Long Does Your Mouthguard Usually Last?
Mine usually lasts about two years, but I definitely notice those little cracks earlier too. My dentist said it's pretty normal, especially if you're a heavier grinder. I've found rinsing it with cool water instead of ho...
RE: Dental crowns: zirconia vs porcelain, which lasts longer?
I totally get the appeal of durability. When I first got my zirconia crown, I did notice it felt a tad thicker compared to my old porcelain one. Honestly though, after a few days, it wasn't something I thought about much...
RE: Getting kids to floss - what tricks actually work?
You're definitely not alone in this struggle. My grandkids were exactly the same way - verbal praise worked for a bit, but eventually lost its charm. Honestly, I think flossing is just one of those universally unpopular ...
RE: Eating comfortably when your mouth feels like a construction zone
Smoothies are definitely gentler for me, especially when my gums feel sensitive. Blending oatmeal with bananas or berries makes it smoother and tastier too. Have you tried adding yogurt or almond milk to thin it out a bi...
RE: Braces on a budget: monthly payments or upfront savings?
Monthly payments definitely ease the stress, but honestly, I found upfront savings worked better for me. It was tough at first, but knowing it was all paid off helped me relax more during treatment. And yeah, those unexp...
RE: struggling with pain after bone graft - anyone else dealing with this?
I remember those first few days after my bone graft - definitely not fun. Ice packs helped, but honestly, alternating ibuprofen and acetaminophen was the only thing that really took the edge off for me. Tried distraction...
RE: WISDOM TEETH OUT - HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO FEEL NORMAL AGAIN?
Totally agree about caffeine - I learned the hard way too. Also, warm saltwater rinses helped me a ton. Took me around two weeks before pizza felt safe again... patience really is key. Hang in there!
RE: The Great Mouthguard Mystery: A Tale of the Vanishing Case
I've wondered the same thing, actually. My dentist told me peroxide is fine occasionally but warned that soaking too often can make the material brittle over time. I've switched to just using mild soap and water most nig...
RE: The Great Mouthguard Mystery: A Tale of the Vanishing Case
Been there myself, unfortunately. I switched to diluted white vinegar recently - works great and no weird aftertaste. Glad baking soda's working for you though, might give that a try sometime too.
