Yeah, can confirm the weird taste thing. Mine wasn't metallic exactly—more like a bitter, medicine-y flavor—but it stuck around for a couple weeks too. Like you said:

"recovery can be quirky like that."

Bodies are strange, haha. Hang in there, it'll pass eventually.

Glad you mentioned the taste thing—I had something similar, but mine was more like a weird salty flavor, almost as if I'd rinsed my mouth with seawater (definitely not recommended, lol). I asked my dentist about it because I was convinced something was off, and she explained that sometimes the healing process can mess with your taste buds temporarily. Apparently, inflammation or even minor nerve irritation can cause these odd sensations. It lasted about ten days for me, then gradually faded away.

Honestly, recovery from dental work is such a mixed bag. One day you're feeling pretty normal, and the next you're wondering why your mouth tastes like you've been chewing aspirin tablets. Bodies really do have their quirks, haha. Hang tight—sounds like you're on the right track!

Interesting to hear your experience with the salty taste—I had something similar, but mine leaned more toward a metallic flavor. My dentist actually mentioned it could be related to the medications or even the antiseptic rinse they used during the procedure, rather than inflammation or nerve irritation. Apparently, some antiseptics can linger and cause odd taste sensations for days afterward.

I do agree that recovery can be unpredictable, though. For me, the weird taste lasted nearly two weeks, and just when I thought it was gone, it popped back up briefly. Bodies definitely have their own timelines and quirks. Still, if the taste persists longer than expected or feels particularly intense, it might be worth double-checking with your dentist—just to rule out any lingering infection or medication side effects. Better safe than sorry, right?

Had something similar after my implant, but mine was more bitter than salty or metallic. Dentist said it could be related to antibiotics messing with taste buds. Did anyone else notice certain foods tasting off during recovery? Coffee tasted super weird to me for weeks...

I had something similar after my implant procedure—especially with coffee tasting off. My dentist explained that antibiotics can temporarily alter taste perception, but also mentioned inflammation around the surgical site can affect taste too. For me, sweet foods tasted oddly bland or even bitter for nearly two weeks. Thankfully, it gradually improved as healing progressed. Hang in there...taste buds usually bounce back pretty quickly once your mouth settles down.
