RE: Did you know kids’ sports guards can help with more than just broken teeth?
I hear you on the headaches and weird bite stuff. I tried a couple of those boil-and-bite guards too - honestly, one left me feeling like my jaw was fighting itself every morning. I’ve never found an OTC guard that didn’...
RE: Keeping Chompers Strong: Dairy vs. Leafy Greens for Older Adults
I totally hear you on the insurance thing - it’s like they only care once something’s already broken. I’ve been in the same boat with calcium, and honestly, I think you’re doing everything right. I switched to almond mil...
RE: EATING SOUP FOR WEEKS: HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO CHEW NORMAL FOOD AGAIN?
Three weeks did feel like forever to me too. I remember after my wisdom teeth were pulled, I was counting down the days until I could eat something that didn’t come through a straw. The “play it safe” advice is everywher...
RE: How many meds are messing with your mouth?
You’re spot on about the humidifier and sipping water - those little changes made a way bigger difference for me than any toothpaste ever did. I tried a few “dry mouth” toothpastes and honestly, most just felt less harsh...
RE: Keeping old bridges in shape - what actually works?
That line made me laugh because I swear superfloss has a mind of its own. I’ve had it poke my cheek more times than I’d like to admit. Honestly, I’ve bounced between all the options - superfloss, threaders, those little ...
RE: Weirdest things that actually help with braces pain
Cold stuff is my go-to too - popsicles, frozen grapes, even just sipping ice water. Heat always made things ache more for me, honestly. I totally get the baby toothbrush worry; I tried it once and just felt like I was mi...
RE: Teenage son has 8 cavities; root canal??
I totally get where you’re coming from. Years ago, my dentist said I needed a root canal ASAP, but I just wasn’t convinced. I went for a second opinion and the new dentist suggested a much less invasive fix - saved me a ...
RE: Worried about 6 root canals
I totally get where you’re coming from. After my first few root canals, I learned the hard way that heat made my face puff up like a chipmunk. Ice packs and just chilling out (literally and figuratively) worked so much b...
RE: Sealants at the Dentist vs. School Clinic: Which Is Better for Your Wallet?
I totally get what you’re saying about technique mattering more than the brand. My oldest got sealants at a school clinic and they lasted way longer than the ones my youngest got at our regular dentist, which honestly su...
RE: Making recovery from jaw surgery less miserable - what actually helped?
That’s so real. I remember thinking the cold would be the magic fix for everything, but after a while it just made my face feel numb and weirdly tight. Switching to heat after the first couple days was a game changer for...
RE: Kicking the thumb habit - anyone else see their kid’s teeth straighten out?
Man, I totally get where you’re coming from. My daughter sucked her thumb until she was almost seven, and I kept hoping it would just resolve on its own. By the time we realized her bite was off, we were in the same brac...
RE: Plastic or wire? Something weird I learned about retainers
Totally get where you’re coming from - those wires made me anxious too, but not having to keep track of plastic trays was a big relief. Honestly, I used to freak out every time I ate popcorn or bit into an apple. Still, ...
RE: Finding the right dentist for dental implants: my step-by-step approach
The aftercare instructions really do seem to depend on who you ask - I got totally different advice from two different dentists. I ended up sticking with the most cautious route, just because I didn’t want to risk anythi...
RE: Which Feels Better: Custom Vs. Boil-And-Bite Mouthguards?
Totally get what you mean about the bulkiness - That’s exactly how I’d describe it too. The custom ones are just in a different league comfort-wise. Mine was also dentist-molded (not 3D printed), and honestly, I barely ...
